Revealing finances – the plain truth
30th May 2017
James’s solicitor has returned the Acknowledgement of Service document which confirms he will pay my costs of the divorce itself. All good but he also sent over his financial disclosure. I had to fight to control myself when Marilyn showed it to me – he’s spent so much money over the past few months on the new girlfriend. I discovered they’d had a long weekend in the Cotswolds – he told me we couldn’t afford it when I suggested a break there a few months back. Flights here, meals there – I was shaking in disbelief as I read through some of the entries. It also appears that for a while now he’s been visiting a casino, at times when I thought he was working late.
Basically it appears that there’s not quite as much money in our accounts as I thought there was, and as he’s usually so good with money, I wonder if he’s revealing everything? Marilyn said that she can ask further questions and I want her to do this as this feels all wrong.
I don’t want him to be left penniless but I do want things to be fair – for me and for the children.
