Consent to finalise our divorce
2nd February 2018
Marilyn called to inform me that the consent order is back from the court. The judge didn’t raise any queries and it means that our financial agreement is now legally binding.
I can still feel the tension in my shoulders despite knowing that we’ve surmounted this hurdle. It’s going to take a few days for the news to sink in but I can’t wait for the weight to lift. I’ve been so worried about it all. The first thing that I did was call Mum and the relief in her voice was palpable. I know that it’s been tough on them but as they’ve been so supportive, I’m not sure I realised quite how much it’s affected them too.
Marilyn has given me a few things to think about to implement our agreement and start actioning. I’ve prepared a checklist for the next steps – house transfer, life assurance on James, will, Decree Absolute. But first: a warm bath and a good night’s sleep.
