The Reluctant Divorcee

Brought to you by SA Law

I’ve never considered writing a blog before; it’s the kind of thing other people do. I’m more of a fact-based person but things are so all over the place at the moment that writing down my thoughts and feelings suddenly feels like the right thing to do. It helps me to organise my thoughts a bit, and who knows, someone else might read this who’s going through the same thing. So here it is: My blog, by Rebecca Green.

Home: One step forward….

This week has been all about the house (never mind Valentines Day!). Steve Kenneford in the Conveyancing team is dealing with getting James released from the mortgage and the house transferred to me. Marilyn is liasing directly with Steve so I know he has all the information he needs.
I’m not going to go into all of the details but when I applied to have the house transferred into my name, the bank then said they will not allow any other charges over the property. This thwarted my original plan for Mum and Dad to have a charge as they have lent me money to buy James’s share of the house.

Mum and Dad have very kindly agreed that the money will be a gift as an advanced inheritance which circumvents the bank issue.

I applied to insure James’ life and now all I need is for James to take his life insurance medical.
